How our minds think about water

Focus: Decision Research and Behavioral Science around the theme of Water

We recognize the essence of our minds in creating the role and value of water in our lives, and in shaping a sustainable future for other lives. We are eager to work with academic and corporate teams connected to or interested in behavioral insights on water, sometimes linked to sustainable development goals in India.

Water is fundamental to life on earth and is intricately related to multiple sustainable development goals. At the Water Decision Research group, we intend to use the psychology of judgment and decision-making in concert with behavioral economics and cognitive science to gather empirical evidence about how we think and act toward water, including how water impacts our thinking and actions. We are interested in conversations with various stakeholders and organizations tailored to behavioral science for good, connected to the theme of water in India or its implications for India.

This research group was consolidated by Dr. Sumitava Mukherjee, a faculty member at the Dept. of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi on Earth Day, 2024.
